GROWTH

"One young person must wrestle with the body that is fighting against them."

GROWTH is Mia Fryer's first fully fledged short film, exploring themes of gender dysphoria in a fantastical, horroresque way.

The film follows a young person with gender dysphoria, and this dysphoria manifests itself as growths on the character’s skin. Over time, the growths become more frequent as the person begins to lose their sense of self, and once their disconnect with their own body reaches its peak, the growths coagulate and coat the person completely. These growths transform the person’s body into an enraged husk with them trapped inside, where they are forced to come to terms with their issues and their self-image.
